Pasta! In a Clutch
With pasta being my muse this week, I cant help to be reminded of my very first fashion creation to ever make. I know many of you will recall the classic rigatoni pasta necklaces we all made for our moms in Kindergarden? I can remember my delicately stringing with yarn and constructing each perfectly chosen pasta piece, and so excited to present that delicate little work of art to my Mom!
Pork Belly Gyros
For a stretch of four years, I was lucky enough to be a resident on the Greek island of Mykonos for a couple of months each year. I’d go to recharge my creative batteries, drink some ouzo, dive for sea urchin roe, and sleep. Standing on the edge of the cerulean blue Aegean Sea and overlooking the tan bodies of Grecian Gods in Speedos, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. Of course, as nourishing as all that introspection was for my soul, this girl needed to eat.
Against the Grain
I’ve never been one to go against the grain. In fact, I’m usually about 3 years behind every trend because I prefer to have others pave the way while I do a risk assessment from the sidelines. Overtime, when the threat-level hovers around mellow yellow, I get on board. I only recently bought a pair of skinny jeans and aviators. Consequently, I’m perpetually chasing trends on their way out, but such is life spent swimming in the mainstream.
