When I think of star anise –I think of Anais Nin. Her bohemian lifestyle in Paris, the art and culture she was exposed to and part of. The lightness of life…the darkness.
I imagine Anais wearing this necklace made of burlap ribbon, star of anise, fresh ivy and cut hellebores to an evening out with Henry Miller. As they walk down the streets of Paris, he stops and picks hellebores for her. Anais replaces her earrings with these beautiful star-like blossoms.
Katherine and I worked on this jewelry together. Our brains just went to work and began to create-the final product simply beautiful. As I captured the necklace, Katherine beautifully captured me.
