Video Journal: Inspired by Charcuterie
This week on Salted and Styled, we focus on the keen eye and calm knife skill of a charcuterie artisan –Chef Roberto Leoci. Combining traditional skills with a modern mind, Roberto gets real with the provenance of food. He takes the techniques of a homeland generations away and makes them accessible in a contemporary “bad-ass” kitchen. Today, we show you a super short video by young film maker, Juwan Platt. In it, you will recognize the calm of Roberto as those around him (the Salted and Styled team) are flitting about.
Fields of Crochet
Nothing feels and looks more summery than wearing a crochet dress, especially in white! Even better to be able to wear it in this beautiful dream like setting. I want to eat lots of honey, drizzled over lots of cheese, drink lots of wine and wear this dress at this amazing table scape in this field! Our on the spot model (Libbie’s intern) Anna Heritage is pulling this look off beautifully (let’s just hope she’s not running from bees). A little crochet dress like this could be worn so many different ways. I would layer it with a black tailored jacket and black heels, of course. You could never go wrong this summer with pairing it with your trusty flip-flops too!

Monster Dance
Ok, so my carrot inspired self tried really hard to focus on finding the perfect children’s ensemble for today’s bunny day. Or to a one “fashion” tracked mind like myself…the day one gets to legally wear white shoes, and a new dress of course. The torture of being forced to not touch those brand new white shoes that sat in the box for weeks while releasing distinctive yummy smells of leather… still haunts me today.
The Life of a Dandelion
Driving along the many pastures on the long country road that lead to my childhood home in Mississippi, I learned early on to recognize certain flowers that preceded the onset of summer. There was one spot (right by that heavy metal gate that I dreaded having to get off my three-wheeler to open) where I knew to watch for the annual sea of dandelion blooms.
Lace Between Seasons
I’m loving this week’s muse, lace and layering…Perfect combo and inspiration for the season right now. The season I am referring to is that “in between” season of not knowing what to wear. Is it winter? Is it Spring? Or wait.. Is it that season known to the fashion world as Resort? If you live in the South, you have even more inquiries..
My Valentine’s Day Crush
Ahhh, love is in the air today, to all of you lovebirds painting the town red tonight… well, I’m a slight bit jealous, but that’s ok. I’m ok with it, really, I am. Even my single self can get excited about things like cute lingerie on Valentine’s Day. What’s a Valentine’s Day anyway without Lingerie? This is probably where I should come clean that I am not a chocolate eater.
